Winter Events in Greenville SC
December has just begun but in the upstate of South Carolina the cold winds and frosty weather of winter have arrived just in time for the start of the holiday season. Residents and visitors can find plenty of holiday events occurring in Greenville this winter but we’ve put together some of the Greenville community events as well as some of the entertainment and sports events coming to the city this winter.

Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade 12/7
Start off the 2013 Christmas season with the Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade. This year the parade will be held Saturday Dec. 7th at 6 pm and run until 7:30 pm. The parade will start near Falls park and continue up Main St. View the full parade route and more details from the City of Greenville.
Roper Mountain Holiday Lights 11/28-12/30
For over 20 years families of the upstate have enjoyed the tradition of touring the lights displayed at the Roper Mountain Science Center. In addition to the 1.5 mile drive of light displays, visitors can also park and walk lighted walking trails, through Winter Wonderland, and see Santa Claus. Admission fees benefit many charities and funding for the science center’s education programs. The display runs from 6pm to 10pm nightly. Read more details about the Roper Mountain Holiday Lights.
United Community Bank Ice on Main 11/29-01/20
If you are looking for a fun winter activity then you might enjoy ice skating in the upstate’s only open air ice skating rink. For a little under two months this open air rink is located in downtown Greenville in front of the Courtyard Marriott and near the intersection of Main Street and Broad Street. Ticket prices are $8 for children 12 and under and $10 for adults. View operation hours and more details at Ice on Main.
The 2013 Spirit of Christmas Past Festival 12/10-12/22
Located in Fountain Inn, this annual Christmas festival includes carriage rides, hayrides, a scavenger hunt, and more. Read more about the 5K that kicks off the festival and all about the Spirit of Christmas Past Festival.
Downtown Greenville Holiday Happening 12/13-12/22
Participating businesses will offer shoppers a stamp on a passport that will be distributed through the Greenville news. The stamped passports can be used to enter shoppers for prizes and other offers. Find out more the new Downtown Greenville Holiday Happening.
The Work’s 12th Annual Christmas Jam 12/21
This year’s Christmas Jam includes guests Peter Rowan, Daniel Hutchens, Jeff Sipe Trio, Cravin’ Melon, and more. Tickets cost $18 in advance and $21 at the door. Proceeds from the event benefit Meals on Wheels Greenville. Read more about the Work Christmas Jam.
The Peace Center, located in downtown Greenville, is a performing arts venue that houses a variety of performances.

Bon Secours Wellness Arena
Bon Secours Wellness Arena, formerly known as the BI-LO Center, is located in downtown Greenville and is home to the Greenville Road Warriors hockey team as well as many other entertainment and sporting events. When the Road Warriors aren’t playing, the ice rink will be open for Skating on the Big Ice various times throughout December.
