Arthur Rutenberg Homes
Some of today’s mainstays in home design can be traced back to Rutenberg family’s ideas, such as the split-family floorplan, where the master bedroom is set apart from the kids’ bedrooms. Marc is a part of that tradition. Marc began in the home-building business over 30 years ago working for his dad and Arthur’s brother, Charles Rutenberg. Always with a mindset for innovation, Marc’s first model home featured plant shelves which Uncle Art, a helicopter pilot, flew in his ‘copter to Spring Hill, Fl to personally see.

Later, in 1987, Marc created the Homes for Young America project, which generated some of the most innovative architectural work and market strategies the home building industry had ever seen. The designs were eye-catching, energetic, and captured the heart of the young starter family; and, by 1989, Homes for Young America was delivering 300 homes annually and gaining national attention. In 1991, Marc put his own name on the door opening Marc Rutenberg Homes with an aspiration to kick up the design and architectural customization, complexity, and scale of his homes. Here, Marc placed emphasis on performance, comfort, beauty, and sustainability. As a testament to Marc’s forward thinking and leadership, Marc Rutenberg Homes has earned much success by redefining attention to detail, re-imagining how architecture meets lifestyle, and re-inventing green building as a measure of the performance, quality, and livability; Marc Rutenberg Homes are designed and built from a starting point of an energy-efficient home all the way to the No Electric Bill Home. For these innovations and designs, Marc Rutenberg Homes has garnered local, regional, and national design and concept awards, Grand Awards, Masterpiece Awards, Best of Category awards, and more.

Marc recently celebrated the grand opening of the No Electric Bill Model Home, the first model home open to the public of Marc’s Zero Energy America initiative. Marc created Zero Energy America to build four homes at the extreme of green building with no electric bill, while maintaining the beauty and design that is the tradition of Marc Rutenberg Homes. To share the hard-earned experience of how to build LEED Platinum, Zero Energy luxury homes with the world, Marc is also producing the documentary for PBS, Zero Energy America. We’re excited to tune in, to this and to all of the innovative leadership that Marc contributes to our continued growth in Florida.

As nephew and uncle, Marc and Art have long enjoyed celebrating family dinners and Sunday morning breakfasts together. Now, these two exemplars of forward-thinking design in home building will flex their muscles together in Pinellas County with Wateron, Inc. We mean it all the more when we say, “Welcome to the family, Marc!”
