The Lease family has settled in to their beautiful new dream home, a custom Riverdale, just in time for the holidays. Moving to The Point from a small Ohio village, Jim and Cathy Lease say the hardest part was not being here to witness the building process. David Timmerman, the construction manager, did his best to ease their worry by providing them with weekly updates on the progress of their home. According to Cathy, photos of the their home’s progress, helpful phone calls for the duration of the project, and an overall responsive and positive attitude from Timmerman made all the difference. She also expressly stressed appreciation for our very own customer liaison, Sara, for her patience and help with incorporating various changes as the project progressed.
Jim and Cathy were looking for an area that would accommodate their four children and Shiloh Shepherd. They chose The Point for its proximity to their daughters’ school. Cathy was looking for quality schooling that was comparable to the highly ranked Hudson schools they were accustomed to. So, naturally, Cathy was ecstatic to discover that they could reserve a spot within the highly acclaimed Iredell-Statesville school system for both of their elementary-aged daughters. The girls’ new classmates will be pen pals with their old school friends, making the transition easier and more fun for them.
The Leases opted for a finished attic space to give their daughters a versatile playroom and sleepover
area. However, the room won’t truly be stamped with the Lease’s footprint until their annual family lobster race in celebration of the New Year. Their clubroom will also be hosting several cots full of Lease family and friends for the holidays. Otherwise, it is the perfect place to cheer on their beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
As for the outside of the house, the dark bronze roof richly contrasts the brown stucco exterior and gray mortar stone entrance way. Coordinating door hardware in aged bronze and bronze gutters sharpen this contrast for an exterior look that is both bold and elegant. A unique exterior feature to note is the functional-looking shutters. Only one set actually closes, but onlookers would be hard-pressed to determine which set that is. A distinguishing addition to complete their family-oriented outdoor area is a porch swing the size of a single bed.
Their home site is just close enough to the lake for a peek-a- boo view of the water, and Cathy wants to angle the swing to capture as much of the gorgeous view as possible. They will definitely be taking their boat out for some good old-fashioned fun in warmer weather.
