In the flooring phase, we discuss the installation of…you guessed it, flooring! This includes engineered hardwood flooring installation, carpeting, tiles, stones, and the transitions that make moving from one floor type to another smooth.

This is one of the last stages for the house. The hardwood flooring is fitted under cabinets and around areas with doorways. It is a prefinished product so it does not need to be sanded just protected. It is very durable and scratch resistant. Hardwood floors that are finished in place will be installed before cabinets go in, much earlier in the build, and will then be sanded and stained right before the move in. The transition from one type of flooring to another is important to get right as it can throw off the flow of the room.

Carpeting takes about a day to install so this is one of the last things to go into the house to ensure there is no damage. Installers go through each room first to ensure that no staples from the wood floor will get in the way and that the surface is smooth for padding and carpet.

Next up we talk about Exterior!
