Master on the first floor, large kitchen island, pantry, utility/mud room off the kitchen, shiplap, farmhouse sink, barn doors, variable width flooring, freestanding bathtub, beamed ceilings and white painted cabinets. That is just a selection of the top favorites we have seen this year while designing custom homes for our clients at Arthur Rutenberg homes by Bluefield Builders.
Many prospective homeowners come to us with clear ideas of how they envision their new custom home. Some are regulars on Pinterest and Houzz, while others have built several custom homes before, and on occasion, a client will bring a designer with them, or have an existing custom plan they would like to build.
Some are entirely new to the custom home process and spend weeks or months touring the network of Arthur Rutenberg Homes in the Carolinas and beyond, picking up ideas, getting to know layouts and floor plans that might work for their lifestyle.
Here are some of the new custom design options we are seeing this summer:
- Custom charging stations: A drop zone in the utility room that is set up to charge multiple smartphones and is hidden away in a drawer.
- The scullery: A hidden kitchen for dishes, dishwashers, storage, and workspace for chopping or rolling pastry so the custom kitchen can be saved for entertaining.
- Open shelving: Dispense with upper cabinets in a custom kitchen and keep everything out in the open for a light and airy look.
- The indoor/outdoor bar: A bar inside the home that extends to the patio with a window pass-through that can be opened in summer for a breezy Caribbean feel.
What have you been imagining? Come in and talk with us about your top must-haves and we will find a way to incorporate them into a home that is custom designed just for you.
